When I make pottery, I think about how it looks, but also about how it will play with and enhance what it will be used for. I want there to be an aesthetic symbiosis between the container and what it contains. During the process of creating each vessel I continuously visualize its function in my mind as I work to transform it into a piece that will go beyond its basic function. My pottery can stand on its own or greatly enhance, visually, it's function.
